The Hometown Index applies a consistent methodology to track a portfolio of companies with a meaningful local presence in the community, weighted based on the magnitude of that presence. This approach yields an index comparable across communities, and a measurable proxy for community performance.
Throughout 2026 we are rolling out indices for communities with strong identities, starting with Kansas City, Portland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Milwaukee, Houston, Denver, Charlotte, Seattle, Chicago, Phoenix, Miami, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis–St. Paul, Dallas–Fort Worth, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Boston, Nashville, Austin, San Francisco and Memphis.
